This place is amazing, from the premises themselves are old and lots of history as part of it used to be a prison. The staff and owners make the place, you enter as a guest and leave as a friend. We were so welcomed in by them and the locals, buying us drinks and the like. I don’t think i have ever stayed anywhere so welcoming. The location is amazing too as its situated right on a riverside, the name gives it away. Such a peaceful place and at night with the windows open you can hear the river running and the wildlife. I left feeling well relaxed and not really wanting to leave. The food is also staggering, you won’t be leaving hungry here. Top quality breakfast and plenty of it, Toast and fruit and cereal are available on tap, Jams and other condiments. The food in the Bar at night was also fantastic. I had fish pie one night, one of the specials, huge chunks of fresh fish and a mash to die for. Other meals were also out of this world, I tried the Lasagne and the scampi and the good lady had Burger on night and the other asked if they could do her some cheese and salad. Nothing was too much bother for these guys. Its such a dog friendly place too, our Akita just plopped herself down in the bar and the guys were just stepping over and round her, never complaining. They gave her sausages at breakfast and mad such a fuss of her. I tend to judge places on how they treat my dog and those are the places that get my business. This place will be getting my business for a very long time to come, I can’t rate it highly enough. The room was huge and looked out onto the garden, spotlessly clean and every kind of item in the room that you could need. The bed is so comfy and I slept better there than I have in a long time. Cracking shower and plenty of tea and coffee, if it’s not enough just asked for more. It has a small flat screen TV and Freeview box. Free WIFI through out the property. Massive shout out to Sarah, Katy, Leah, John, Linda and Mo

This was an absolutely gorgeous 17th century Inn, which just oozed character. The location of The Watermans Arms was to die for as well. it really is a beautiful location on the edge of The River Dart, which actually flows opposite it. From the minute we walked in to the minute we left, the staff were so welcoming and friendly! There was nothing they wouldn’t do for us. My wife and I came down for 4 nights forNew Years with our 2 dogs and we felt like we were part of the family every time we walked in. Breakfast was always a brilliant start to every day. it was delicious. There was a good variety as well. A lovely cooked breakfast or a continental breakfast for those looking for something lighter. Food on the evening menu was simple, honest home cooked food which myself and my wife love. made with love and care and we thought it was delicious. The location is 20 minutes from a variety of walks and activities that are ideal for those with dogs. We were able to spend our days walking the costal paths with our dogs allowing them to swim in the sea, run around in the woods, the fields or parks. We are even able to meet some seals during our day trips walking to the various costal coves. After long days out, it was always wonderful to come back and feel like we were coming back home. Simply wonderful and we will definitely be coming back 😃

This was my third time staying at this very special country pub. The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. My room was spacious, clean, warm and comfortable, which was ideal for me as I was on a writing retreat. A great breakfast is included and other meals were tasty. The location is wonderfully peaceful, with the lovely River Harbourne and Bow Bridge just outside the main entrance to the pub. I would highly recommend the Waterman's Arms if you like a rural setting and enjoy friendly service and comfort.

The Waterman's Arms is a charming, traditional country pub in a heavenly location. It is family run, friendly and relaxed. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with all we needed for our stay. The gardens are kept beautifully and there is a lovely atmosphere throughout. The food was average pub grub - the complimentary breakfast was plentiful. On the whole, the staff were attentive and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and will be returning.

The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs and wishes. We had come from a really exhausting trip and they made us breakfast which we could take up to our rooms and have in bed just as we needed. They provided everything we needed with a lovely positive and bubbly attitude. Could not have asked for more. It was the totally the staff that made it for us, let alone the stunning location
